Arcos Brasil 4/4 Cello Bow Pernambuco Nickel Mounted

DON'T BUY THIS BOW...until you look at the maker website. Arcos Brasil is not an every-day name that I ran across when I was buying a new bow. So I looked up the manufacturer and was totally blown away. They're not wringing their hands about the pernambuco near-extinction (and charging the super-premium prices like many other manufacturers are)--they've been planting the pernambuco trees on their own acreage and sending seedlings throughout Brazil. But the most fun part is that they have the actual archetiers' photos and a short career bio for each. And the bows have that maker's stamped name on them, not Arcos' imprint. So I threw my wallet at this one, which was way over my humble "budget", to be honest, but the environmental common sense and the recognition of the bow makers appealed to me. And my new bow, made by "Deir", plays like butter, is perfectly balanced, definitely improves my cello sound, and I'm looking forward to playing in a community orchestra this fall with it.
