To Those Who Soar is dedicated to the astronauts who have bravely served in our space program. NASA was established in 1958 encouraging peaceful applications of space science. Musically, the piece begins with dramatic percussion setting up the overall feeling of the work. After the introduction, a bold A section is meant to salute our astronauts and their many achievements. When the B section starts, it is more subdued, but it gradually leads back to the heroic feel of the A. After a brief percussive interlude, one more final playing of the A section brings this exciting new work to a finish. Correlated with Tradition of Excellence Book 2, page 12.
